Dear Nola,
I have nearly finished Year seven at Lockhart River State School. I have to go away next year to boarding school. I don't know where we are going yet, but we have to decide soon. Do you know where you are going? Can I still write to you next year when I have gone away to boarding school?
Gwenneth

Nola's Diary is an active ODT Programme designed for primary school students in remote locations, particularly in Cape York. The programme has been developed with the support and assistance from Lockhart River Community teachers and Year Seven class.

Nola's Diary is written by Nola, a fictitious 12 year old Aboriginal girl living in remote Australia in a virtual community called Paradalah.

Children from all over North Queensland participated in Nola's Diary sending messages to Nola and reading her updates.

Nola adds to her diary by taking video, pictures, collecting information and yarning.

If you want to find out more about Nola, send an email to director@cicada.net.au.

Users were encouraged to register to the site and send pictures, video or stories for Nola to to add to the Diary.

Hopefully, Nola's Diary will be developed further into a national programme in 2004.
